Additional Information

Philippe Viet, whose previous life was in IT in Paris, decided to change his life towards a creative contact with nature. He moved to the Beaujolais and worked with Eric Janin in Romanèche-Thorins and, in 2019, started with 4.83 ha, immediately converting the vines to organic. 2022 is the first year of certification for his original parcels. This is a small operation and he does not aim to grow as he's all alone for now, though he has also moved forward with a micro (organic) négoce project.

The wines are juicy and vibrant, some more delicate, floral and aérien, and some showing profound depth of texture, high class structure and pretty serious finishes. They are clean, precise wines that pave their own road between classic and 'glou' style. Despite Viet being a recent addition in the Beaujolais scenery, critics such as William Kelley and especially Neal Martin sing the praises for his wines already.

Labels

Viet is also a fervent art enthusiast who adopts a unique approach to his creations: he switches his labels annually, dedicating each vintage to a different artist. The labels for the 2021 vintage drew inspiration from the works of Victor Vasarely, while the 2022 labels pay homage to Kasimir Malevitch.
